Seiza & Mokuso — the quiet ritual before every session begins
Warm-up
Seiken-zuki — the fundamental punch: grip, form, stance
Mae-geri — front kick
Jun-zuki / Gyaku-zuki — the one-two combination
Mitt kicking — techniques adjusted to the group
Mitt striking — techniques adjusted to the group
Yakusoku-kumite — receiving and deflecting an opponent's strike
Kihon-gata — a foundational form, combining footwork, blocks, and strikes
Rei — a closing bow, in seiza, to mark the end

Step into a quiet, traditional dojo in Hibarigaoka and learn the true art of Karate. This is a special 60-minute session in a local dojo where people practice daily, far from the typical tourist crowds. Our Sensei adjusts each lesson to your level, so language is never a barrier to connection.
Ages 3 and up welcome. Free for children 2 and under.

No experience needed, no sparring — this is forms-based training, so anyone can join with confidence.

Held indoors at the dojo. Weather won't get in the way.

Hello, I'm Teppei Koyama.
At Shinshindo, we practice karate forms rooted in Okinawa, the birthplace of karate. Karate trains not only the body, but the mind as well — and through it, you come to know yourself.
I hope this experience brings you moments of discovery, and simply, joy.

2011 — Earned Shodan (1st degree black belt)
2014 — Began "Chair Karate" as a fall-prevention program for seniors
2015 — Certified as a Shinshindo Shihan (Master Instructor)
2021 — Earned 6th Dan, Renshi
2022 — Certified as a Shinshindo Kobudo Shihan (Master Instructor, Classical Weapons)
2024 — Opened Shinshindo Hibarigaoka Dojo
